Location: Southbridge Owen Sound
Position: Personal Support Worker, Part-Time, Permanent
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing direct care for residents, including ambulation, feeding, bathing, and grooming.
- Encourage participation in activity programs by assisting residents to and from activities.
- Assist with meal service and nourishment delivery, providing feeding assistance as required.
- Provide emotional and social support to residents and families, including palliative care.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures regarding documentation, quality assurance, fire safety, environment, and infection control.
- Consult with and inform supervisors about unit activities, needs, and resident care matters.
- Participate in care conferences and documentation related to resident care plans.
Qualifications
- Completed a PSW Program meeting standards set by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Career Colleges, or the Ontario Community Support Association, with a minimum of 600 hours including class and practical experience.
- Experience in long-term care is an asset.
- Knowledge of care planning systems and documentation is required.
- Physically and mentally capable of performing duties.
- Ability to communicate positively with staff, residents, and families.
- Demonstrates empathy, concern, and interest in providing quality care and service.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to complete tasks timely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to provide resident care according to legislation, routines, and care plans, with proficiency in English communication.
