About the Role

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Nursing Lab Coordinator is responsible for providing learning support to nursing students in the development of clinical skills through direct student support and instruction. The Coordinator develops, implements, and instructs the lab component of courses and works collaboratively with the department, faculty, clinical instructors and students to enhance learning.

  • Collaborate with faculty to design lab content that aligns with learning outcomes involving labs and simulations.
  • Develop and implement lab components, including clinical simulations for nursing students.
  • Instruct students in virtual and in‑person settings, focusing on facilitating learning and psychomotor skill development.
  • Assist in managing online lab content using the university’s learning management system.
  • Participate in clinical simulations, taking on various roles and enhancing realism through props and moulage.
  • Support students in skill review and practice, providing remediation when necessary.
  • Create reports on remediation sessions and communicate with faculty and clinical instructors.
  • Identify knowledge barriers, offer constructive feedback, and organize additional learning opportunities including make‑up lab sessions.
  • Support lab tours, recruitment events, and equipment decisions.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, troubleshoot equipment, and report repair needs.
  • Participate in accreditation processes, collaborate on projects, and attend meetings as required.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Registered ( eligible) RN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Recent clinical experience, preferably in in‑patient acute or chronic care areas with demonstrated teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting simulation and lab equipment.
  • Ability to design and facilitate clinical simulations for nursing programs.
  • Confidence in demonstrating clinical skills to learners.
  • Knowledge of nursing legislation, standards, best practices, and technology applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, including active listening, clear explanation, and coaching abilities.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm for student learning, and strong support for colleagues.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including time management and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and responsive to feedback.
Preferred or Asset Skills
  • Graduate degree in Nursing, Education, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with simulated laboratory learning or certifications related to simulation‑based learning and equipment maintenance.
Salary and Total Rewards
  • Job Grade L, Salary Scale ($66,817 - $107,280).
  • Target Hiring Range: $66,817 - $80,000.
  • Permanent position with comprehensive benefits.
