We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Vascular Surgery Team at Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) in New Westminster, B.C. As part of this rewarding role the NP works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team with a coordinated approach to ensure safe, quality, effective, and timely care for patients.
RCH’s Vascular Surgery is a vibrant and collaborative team dedicated to providing both episodic and longitudinal care for a complex patient population. This interdisciplinary team is highly supportive, and you will have the opportunity to work alongside partner NPs. The hospital is renowned for its dynamic patient demographic and exceptional interprofessional collaboration, making it an ideal environment for NP practice.

Vascular patients often have intricate medical and surgical needs, requiring both high-acuity care and ongoing treatment. The team emphasizes patient education and the optimization of therapies, integrating both medical and procedural interventions. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will collaborate with a comprehensive care team that includes Vascular Specialists, the Perioperative Internal Medicine team, Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Pharmacists, Social Workers, and Unit Clerks. Together, this multidisciplinary team strives to provide exceptional and holistic care.

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for the comprehensive assessment of patients/clients/residents including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions. The Nurse Practitioner initiates treatment including health care management, therapeutic interventions and prescribes medications in accordance with the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions, and employer policies and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner provides professional guidance to other health professionals and practices autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary health care team, making referrals to specialist physicians and others as appropriate.
The position collaborates with patients/clients/residents and other health professionals to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patients/clients/residents, families and communities; develops and implements population and evidence based strategies to improve health and participates in policy-making activities that influence health services and practices. The position participates in peer review and self review to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient/client/resident, community and population level.
Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Recent relevant clinical nursing experience.
Demonstrates the leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring and Courageous and creates the conditions for people to succeed.
