Job Summary

Bring your clinical expertise and passion for providing quality, compassionate care to a rewarding role as a Nurse Practitioner at our Primary Care Access Clinic located in White Rock, B.C. This clinic’s patients are supported by a team of nurse practitioners and physicians providing a wide range of health care services for patients in transition to find a primary care provider. This role is highly rewarding as the team works together to provide the best care plans for the most complex care needs such as for those who suffer with multiple chronic illnesses.

Be part of our clinical enhancement program with regular in-house skills development such as 12 lead ECG interpretation, Point of Care ultrasound (POCUS), suturing and x-ray interpretation in addition to receiving centralized NP orientation. Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat previously undiagnosed patients/clients/residents for undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice; write orders for treatment and medications; provide first-line care in emergencies.
  • Monitor ongoing care, order appropriate screening diagnostic investigations; interpret reports of investigations and analyze information to monitor progress and plan treatment.
  • Establish priorities for management of health, diseases, disorders, and conditions; provide follow-up treatment; communicate with patients/clients/residents and families about health findings, diagnoses, outcomes, and prognoses; support and counsel patients/clients/residents in their responses to diseases, disorders, and conditions.
  • Collaborate and consult with physicians or other health care and social service providers as appropriate to assess and diagnose patient/resident status. Develop and implement treatment plans. May admit and discharge patients/clients/residents to facilities according to organizational policies.
  • Prescribe drugs within statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions for Nurse Practitioners and within employer policies and procedures.
  • Assign work to other nursing and health care personnel; evaluate work and provide education and supervision as necessary; hire staff, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Participate in research contributing to improved patient care and advances in nursing, health policy development, and population health.
  • Maintain a population health focus by implementing screening and health promotion activities for at-risk populations.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staff and nursing education through case presentations, mentoring, and role modeling; foster health care partnerships.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Recent relevant clinical nursing experience.
