Position Summary

UHN seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner primarily based on the inpatient neurosurgical unit. The NP will demonstrate autonomy and expert skills in managing patients within the spine surgery and broader neurosciences programs. They will provide leadership in improving patient care, supporting staff development, and participating in policy, research, and education activities.

Responsibilities

• Assess and interpret patient data.
• Diagnose and treat complex neurosurgical and neuro-oncological conditions.
• Lead quality improvement and administrative initiatives.
• Develop policies and participate in research.
• Provide education and professional development.
• Serve as a resource and consultant within the hospital.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (Adult or Primary Care).
• Current College of Nurses of Ontario Certificate of Competence.
• 3-5 years of nursing experience in an acute setting with neurosurgical/spine/onco/neuro-interventional patients.
• Neuroscience Nursing certification is an asset.
• Experience with research methodology.
• Eligible for academic appointment.
• Membership in relevant nursing organizations is an asset.
• Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and under stress, and to utilize IT effectively.
