Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the Gastroenterology team. The NP will provide full-scope care to GI patients in hospital and community settings, including on-call GI coverage, with leadership in program development and quality improvement.

The position is casual/relief, based at Red Deer, with hours across days and evenings and involvement in GI and hepatology care across the corridor.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree.
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-scope NP care across hospital and community settings to GI/hepatology patients.
  • Provide clinical leadership and participate in program development, quality improvement, and service advancement.
  • Cover for existing NPs and support GI on-call services at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

Your Opportunity

Come and be part of our multidisciplinary Nurse Practitioner team within the Gastroenterology (GI) services as we continue to build on the foundation of our Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Hepatology programs at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. This Nurse Practitioner role will provide comprehensive support to GI patients in both hospital and community settings. In addition to supporting patients across the care continuum, this position will provide coverage for existing Nurse Practitioners and enhanced support for GI on-call services at RDRHC. Working to full scope of practice, the Nurse Practitioner will provide clinical leadership, guidance, and active participation in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and service advancement. This position is based at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, with an expectation of supporting patients with chronic and acute GI and hepatology conditions across the corridor.

Description

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.
