Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for Rutgers Student Health. Reports to the Associate Director of Medical Services. The nurse practitioner is a registered nurse, licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey, and certified as an advanced practice nurse with prescription privileges.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

• Provides direct primary care, including identifying and managing common health issues, delivering preventive and sexual/reproductive health services, assessing physical, developmental, and psychosocial health, developing care plans, making therapeutic decisions, and managing ongoing treatment.
• Collaborates with healthcare team members on patient care and advises on campus and University health-related policy matters.
• Records each patient encounter in the medical record and complies with Rutgers Student Health protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Master’s degree in nursing with APN specialty (primary health care focus).

Certifications/Licenses

• Must have met all NJ BON requirements for APN certification including national certification in a APN specialty and completion of a 6-hour course CDS prescribing.
• Registered nurse in New Jersey or eligible and willing to obtain.
• CPR certified or willing to obtain.
• AANP or ANCC certification as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner.
• A valid driver’s license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience in sexual and reproductive health.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year experience in primary health care delivery.
• Will consider a new graduate of a nurse practitioner program who has previous nursing experience, pending successful certification by examination.
• Computer – various software including medical management system; medical equipment typically used in primary care.
