An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to serve the vulnerable population of Fort McMurray. This role emphasizes comprehensive health services, integrating advanced nursing and medical skills to assess and treat patients across their lifespan. The successful candidate will work within a holistic care model, collaborating with community partners to enhance health service delivery. With a focus on mental health and addiction, this position offers a competitive salary and additional allowances, making it a fulfilling opportunity for those passionate about making a difference in the community.
Your Opportunity:
The high incidence of serious co-morbid physical health problems and reduced lifespan among persons with chronic and persistent mental illness is well documented in the literature. The incidence of co-morbid addiction issues and mental illness is also well documented, as are the barriers this population experiences in accessing primary care.
The nurse practitioner role within addiction and mental health is dedicated to providing services to this vulnerable population within Fort McMurray. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) offers regular health monitoring, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, and follow-up of physical health problems, as well as mental health interventions through a holistic client care model. The NP assesses client service needs within the target population and develops the format for providing that service through the Wellness Program, including scheduling formats (both drop-in and scheduled appointments), home visits, off-site clinics, and clinical support to other programs serving the same population.
The NP collaborates with community stakeholders to provide a drop-in clinic. In addition to a competitive pay rate, AHS currently offers a Fort McMurray Allowance up to $12,480 annually. This allowance is non-pensionable and paid hourly for all hours at the basic rate of pay. The position transitions to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying, you agree to and will become an employee of Recovery Alberta.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner, you will provide comprehensive health services across the lifespan, integrating nursing and medical skills to assess, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments, and perform procedures to meet patient health needs.
You will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to enhance care quality, promote appropriate health service use, and influence healthcare systems.
