Are you a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) passionate about making a real difference in the lives of patients? Join our team and help make a positive impact on the care of lung cancer patients. The Alberta Thoracic Oncology Program is an outpatient program offering rapid multidisciplinary evaluation of patients with suspected lung malignancy. As a member of the ATOP team, the Nurse Practitioners (NPs) work alongside radiologists, thoracic surgeons, and clerks to support expedited diagnosis, staging, and investigation of suspected lung malignancies. Reporting to the Manager, the ATOP NP is a self-directed Advanced Practice Nurse responsible for providing comprehensive direct patient care for outpatients referred to the clinic. The NP performs assessments, triage, diagnosis (including ordering and interpreting tests), interventions (including prescribing medications), management, referrals, and evaluation of patient care. This position is based at the Foothills Medical Centre and serves patients from Red Deer to the border. The NP collaborates closely with specialist MDs and participates in program development, research, and clinical teaching activities.
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of health services to individuals of all ages. Your responsibilities include assessing, diagnosing, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing treatments, and performing procedures to meet patients' health needs. You will utilize advanced clinical nursing competencies related to Practice, Leadership, System Optimization, Education, and Research to improve care quality, promote appropriate health service use, and influence healthcare systems.
