Job summary

Aecon is seeking a Welding Supervisor to join our fabrication and construction team in Canada. You will develop welding procedures, oversee WPQ/PQR processes, and ensure welding operations meet project specifications.

This role requires strong knowledge of arc welding, ASME codes, and NDE techniques, with a focus on safe, efficient field execution. Preferred candidates hold a Welding Technology qualification and a CWB Welding Supervisor certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing/fabrication or related industry knowledge.
• Graduate of Welding Technology Program or equivalent, or equivalent practical experience.
• Certification as a CWB Welding Supervisor would be an asset.
• Strong working knowledge of arc welding processes and equipment is essential.
• Knowledge of ASME Code Section III and IX, CWB W47.1 & 2 and CSA W59, AWS D1.1/D1.6 considered an asset.
• Certification as a CWB Welding Supervisor would be an asset.
• Good working knowledge of NDE methods for VT/MT/PT/RT and UT.
• Significant experience operating and supporting Orbital Welding Tooling is an asset.
• General knowledge of Manufacturing methods and procedures.
• Working knowledge with MS based computer applications.
• Work well in a team environment.
• Strong written, verbal communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment.
• Work with welders, supervisors and welding engineers to determine optimal welding parameters.
• Oversee welding operations for WPS, WPQ and PQR.
• Ensure site conditions are suitable before mobilization of welding operators.
• Maintain a regular job-site presence to monitor welding activities.
• Verify correct welding procedures and tooling configuration.
• Review weld data and results after completion.
• Lead welding and tooling troubleshooting at site.
• Report welding issues to supervision.
• Assist in qualification of welders for field and shop personnel.
• Prepare Aecon technical specifications and requisitions for weld consumables.
• Interpret drawings, codes, standards, and procedures and communicate findings.
• Maintain process control during critical welding activities.
• Train welders on procedures, processes and equipment.
• Review drawings for joint configurations and weld symbols.
• Stay current with new welding technologies.
