Job summary

Spirit Omega Inc. is seeking a project engineering professional for a 24-month contract in Pickering, Ontario. The role is 100% onsite with a 40-hour work week, and up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of project engineering experience.
• Nuclear Projects experience preferred; nuclear worker status required.
• Able to interface with multiple internal/external groups to meet stakeholder requirements.
• Willingness to lead meetings and give presentations.
• Ability to interact with vendors and manage procurement processes.
• Interest in fast-paced environments; initiative and self-motivation encouraged.
• Familiarity with governance and procedures; analytical mindset.
• Experience interfacing with station, scheduling and work control.
• Pursuing Mortification Team Leader (MTL) Qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Manager in scoping, planning, execution and close-out of projects.
• Clarify design and specification requirements and arrange changes.
• Assist with engineering design changes using ECC processes.
• Prepare specifications, bid packages, tenders, and purchasing recommendations.
• Prepare decision documents to evaluate options considering cost and schedule.
• Coordinate information for assigned projects and alternatives.
• Provide oversight of integrated, resource-loaded project schedules with scope, risks, budgets.
• Maintain liaison on safety, documents, materials handling, permits and readiness.
• Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and recommend awards for best value.
• Initiate and manage contracts including payments and change orders.
• Assist with regular project reports and participate in progress meetings.
• Maintain awareness of budgeting, estimating and scheduling practices and procedures.
