Job summary

BWXT NEC manufactures and services critical nuclear tooling with a focus on fuel handling and reactor maintenance. The Peterborough site in Ontario seeks a Manufacturing Engineer focused on Instrumentation & Control to establish and refine manufacturing procedures and support shop activities.

The role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and requires 3–10 years in manufacturing, a relevant degree, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering; P.Eng. considered an asset.
  • 3–10 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; teamwork oriented.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with clear written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of Machine Guarding per CSA; SPC knowledge; MS Office proficiency.
  • Desire for Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience; Nuclear industry exposure; CAD software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare shop routings for each component reflecting the sequence of shop activities.
  • Identify shop resources, fixtures and tooling required; allocate materials and ensure QA standards.
  • Resolve non-conforming conditions identified by Quality Control; assess against drawings and specs.
  • Produce documents (work orders, drawings, reports) and liaise with sales, suppliers for technical resolutions.
  • Develop and support shop procedures for Panel, Cable, Wiring, Assembly and Testing.
  • Maintain time standards and historical data to aid shop scheduling; conduct time studies.
  • Maintain tooling database and visual records for past practices.
