Job summary

A leading engineering services company in Canada is seeking a Protection & Relay Testing Engineer to support complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering or computer science, and at least 3 years of experience in protection relay testing. Knowledge of defect tracking, power systems, and tools like Jira is essential. We are looking to hire a Protection & Relay Testing Engineer for our client in Markham.

Must Haves:

• Degree in electronics or electrical engineering, BSc in Computer Science, or a similar field.
• Minimum 3+ years of firsthand experience in the field of protection relay testing and quality assurance.
• Knowledge of capturing and diagnosing logs for any application crashes. Defect logging and defect tracking until bug closure. Using tools like Jira for bug tracking.
• Knowledge in Power Systems (electrical substations).
• Knowledge of defect tracking tools and test management systems.

Tools / software / methodology / certification:

• Knowledge of IEC 61850 GOOSE and other communication protocols including Modbus, Buffered and Unbuffered Report, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-103.
• Working knowledge with network switches, VLAN and routers.
• Knowledge of SV IEC61850-9-2LE & IEC61869-9.
