Job summary

ParaMed is seeking a NSWOC RN to enhance nursing practice in community home care across Canada. A Wound Certificate from a 1-year university program and RN licensure are required. The role emphasizes high standards of patient care, collaboration with physicians, and support for community-based services.

The successful candidate will lead nursing staff, develop care plans, and ensure compliant, quality care while coordinating with care teams and management to meet patient needs and program goals.

Qualifications

  • Registered/eligible for registration with the provincial college.
  • Experience in Community or long-term care.
  • Ability to supervise and prioritize tasks in a team setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care under established standards and physicians' orders.
  • Assess and monitor residents; develop and evaluate care plans.
  • Oversee nursing staff and orient/ supervise team members.
  • Monitor performance and discuss issues with the Director of Care.
  • Provide department direction in the absence of the Director of Care.

Job Description Job Description The NSWOC RN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care. A mandatory requirement for this position is a Wound Certificate acquired from a 1yr University Program. For Union Jobs, please refer to the collective agreement and provide the following additional information in the Job Description: Union Name: Union Local: Union Classification (Title): RN as applicable Salary: RN Visit Rate Nursing Schedule: Mon-Fri 0830-1630 Access to reliable vehicle in community home care is required For both Non- Union and Union jobs, the below description will apply:

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring resident / patient care is provided with established nursing standards and principles, physicians’ orders and administrative policies
  • Assisting in the assessment and monitoring of residents / patients while working to develop, implement, review and evaluate resident/patient care plans
  • Managing and evaluating the work of nursing and personal care staff assigned to the unit, including orientations and other supervisory duties
  • Monitoring performance, conducting performance appraisals and referring problems to the Director of Care
  • Provide direction to the nursing department in the absence of the Director of Care
Qualifications
  • Appropriate current certificate of competence from the Approved Institutions for the province
  • Registered/eligible for registration with the Approved Professional Institutions for the province
  • Previous similar experience in Community or long-term care, with comprehensive knowledge of duties
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team, to prioritize tasks in order of urgency
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and comprehension skills
  • Developed creative problem-solving skills to look at the “big picture”
