Job summary

Kibbi Technologies Inc. is seeking a Systems Control Operator based in Yellowknife, NT. The role involves safe operation of electrical networks via SCADA, monitoring, and responding to plant alarms across multiple facilities.

You will prepare reports, manage switching procedures, and coordinate with NTPC’s satellite plants, often requiring on-call shifts. The ideal candidate has at least five years in electrical/mechanical roles, strong communication skills, and the ability to interpret

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an electrical or mechanical trade, technologist/technician role or as a hydro/diesel utility power plant operator.
  • Certificates or training in Power Engineering or an electrical/mechanical discipline may be considered an asset.
  • Good colour vision is required. Must not have any hearing or colour vision deficiency.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret single line diagrams, meters, gauges and telemetry data.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing software and email.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on the generation and distribution systems, adjusting hydro and diesel generation units as needed.
  • Operate SCADA system to start/stop engines, synchronize generators and close feeder breakers.
  • Prepare hourly, daily, and monthly reports and complete outage and switching reports.
  • Review and execute switching procedures and issue Work Protection Permits.
  • Maintain load, voltage, frequency and VARs; inspect relays and annunciation.
  • Respond to system abnormalities and de-escalate concerns with customers during outages.
  • Travel to hydro facilities and remote locations as required; work on a rotation shift schedule.
