Job summary

Richmond Steel Recycling Limited is seeking a Non-Ferrous Supervisor to oversee the daily non-ferrous processing area, ensuring safe, efficient handling and quality of sorted metals. You will lead a mixed unionized workforce, manage production flow, and support continuous improvement within the facility.

The role requires 5+ years in the industry, at least 1 year of supervisory experience, and knowledge of non-ferrous metals and equipment operations.

Responsibilities

• Train and develop employees; assign tasks and monitor performance.

Salary: $120,000-$130,000 (additional relocation allowance offered)

Schedule: 40 hours/week (On-Site)

Job Summary

The Non-Ferrous Supervisoris responsible foroverseeing daily operations of the non-ferrous processing area, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of materials. This role leads a team of unionized and non-unionized operators and sorters, manages production flow, ensures quality of sorted metals, and supports continuous improvement within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Production

• Supervise non-ferrous processing activities including receiving, sorting, grading, and shipping materials. Ensure production targets are met and monitor material flow.
• Oversee proper identification and segregation of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce all safety policies and procedures. Conduct daily safety meetings. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company standards.
• Identifyhazards and promote a strong safety culture.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, train, and develop employees. Assign daily tasks andmonitorperformance.
• Support employee engagement and address performance concerns.

Quality Control

• Ensureaccurategrading and sorting of materials.
• Minimize contamination and maximize material value.
• Perform inspections andmaintainquality standards.

Equipment & Yard Management

• Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment including forklifts, cranes, and balers.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard and coordinate maintenance repairs.

Reporting & Administration

• Track production metrics andmaintaininventory records.
• Monitor labour productivity andassistin budgeting efforts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience required.
• 1+yearsof supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of non-ferrous metals and equipment operations required.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Willingness to work in outdoor environments (heat, cold, dirt, noise).

• Requires standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift.
