Job Summary

Main Duties
  • Operate tower, mobile, or overhead cranes to hoist, lower and position materials according to lift plans and load charts.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections, routine maintenance checks, and report mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Interpret load charts, rigging plans and basic technical drawings to determine rigging and lifting requirements.
  • Communicate with riggers, signal persons and site supervisors to coordinate lifts and maintain site safety.
  • Set up and secure crane components, outriggers and hoisting equipment following manufacturer guidelines and site procedures.
  • Document lift activities, complete required logs and report incidents or near-misses promptly.
Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Previous experience operating tower, mobile or overhead cranes in construction or industrial environments.
  • Certification in crane operation where required by jurisdiction or completion of a recognized crane training program.
  • Ability to read and interpret load charts, rigging plans and basic technical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of workplace safety practices, signaling procedures and fall protection requirements.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, work at heights, and communicate effectively with crew members.
