Job summary

BC Eco Industrial Services is seeking a Night Yard Attendant to support the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the BC Eco yard and equipment fleet during overnight hours. The role requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently while protecting assets and ensuring equipment readiness for daily operations.

Job description

The Night Yard Attendant is responsible for supporting the safe, secure, and efficient operation of the BC Eco yard and equipment fleet during overnight hours. This role conducts routine fire prevention and security checks, performs equipment inspections and minor maintenance, washes and services mobile equipment, monitors fuel inventories, and maintains overall yard housekeeping standards. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently while protecting company assets and supporting equipment readiness for daily operations.

Compensation & Schedule

$31.00 per hour

Compensation will be paid in accordance with the applicable rate for this position. Additional premiums, allowances, and benefits may apply.

Schedule: Rotating night shift, 10-hour days, daily overtime

Responsibilities

• Conduct yard security patrols, perform fire watch inspections, maintain fire prevention equipment, monitor fire suppression resources, complete applicable Hot Work Permits, and respond to emergencies in accordance with company procedures.
• Inspect, service, and perform minor maintenance on mobile equipment and support assets, including fluid checks, lubrication, greasing, minor repairs, and reporting maintenance requirements.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and operational readiness by washing equipment when requested by the Supervisor, blowing off equipment daily using an air compressor, and preparing units for safe and efficient operation.
• Monitor, measure, and record fuel inventories, fuel storage levels, and other operational resources, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized yard conditions through routine housekeeping activities, waste disposal, and identification of safety or environmental concerns.
• Comply with all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements, participate in safety meetings and hazard assessments, maintain situational awareness, and promptly report hazards, incidents, injuries, and near misses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
• Experience working in a forestry, industrial, construction, transportation, manufacturing, or similar environment.
• Work independently during overnight shifts while adhering to company working-alone procedures, including mandatory safety check-ins and emergency communication requirements.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong commitment to safety, situational awareness, accountability, reliability, and attention to detail, supported by effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, including experience conducting equipment inspections, servicing, greasing, cleaning, and minor maintenance activities using hand tools and maintenance equipment.
• Experience working around heavy equipment, trucks, forestry equipment, or industrial machinery, including fuel monitoring, preventative maintenance, equipment operation, or related yard support activities, is considered an asset.
• Fire watch, wildfire suppression, emergency response experience, and safety certifications such as WHMIS or Occupational First Aid are considered assets.
• Experience operating forklifts, skid steers, loaders, or other mobile equipment is considered an asset.
