Job summary

A local garden supply company in Metro Vancouver is seeking a dedicated individual for a hands-on role to assist customers with bulk landscape materials. This position requires strong customer service skills and experience with machinery. Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service, loading materials, and ensuring equipment maintenance. Ideal candidates should have a clean BC driver's license and the ability to work in various outdoor conditions. This is a seasonal role with potential for summer continuation.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.
• Clean driver’s abstract is mandatory.
• Experience with tractors and forklifts is an asset.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience is needed.
• Landscaping knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors is essential.
• Reliability in transportation is recommended.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
• Assist customers with loading bulk materials into vehicles.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections on tractor and forklift.
• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of machinery.
• Deliver landscape materials using a mini dump truck.

Job description

Location:South Surrey – West Coast Gardens

Hours:8:30am–5:00pm | 30–40 hoursper week

Pay:$20-22/hr

Duration:March–June (possibility to continue into summer season)

About the Role:

The role focuses on assisting customers with bulk landscape materials, operating equipment, processing orders, and ensuring the yard and kiosk operate efficiently.

This is an active, hands‑on role working both outdoors and in the retail environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service by acknowledging and greeting customers
• Assist customers with loading bulk soil and landscape products into vehicles
• Conduct daily pre‑trip inspections on tractor and forklift equipment
• Keep machinery and equipment clean, fueled, and well maintained
• Deliver landscape materials to homes using a mini dump truck
• Ensure the kiosk is stocked daily and notify the Retail Manager when inventory is low
• Follow all health and safety regulations

Qualifications:

• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
• Clean driver’s abstract
• Tractor and SDCB forklift experience considered an asset
• Minimum 1 year customer service experience
• Landscaping knowledge considered an asset
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying outdoor temperatures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Reliable transportation is recommended as the location is not accessible by bus.
