Job description

Overview

Ultra Maritime is seeking highly motivated and skilled NIGHT SHIFT - Test Engineering Electronics Technician to join our team. Successful candidates will assist in the designing, developing, and maintaining automated test equipment to support the production of complex defense systems. This role requires a strong understanding of interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and other documentation, and a commitment to ensuring the highest quality standards for our customers. Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain automated/manual test setup, comprised of test equipment and test software.
  • Create and maintain detailed test plans, procedures, and methodologies to verify product specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test equipment, software, and test methodologies.
  • Analyze test data and production yields to identify trends, root causes of failures, and areas for improvement.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to existing test equipment and processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Collaborate with design, development, and manufacturing teams to ensure testability and quality throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Carry out testing across a wide variety of electronic products, using automated and manual test equipment and processes for safety, capacities, compliance, and performance.
  • Complete testing records and results individually as required for each product tested, and where necessary compiling reports on findings and testing data gathered. Ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and kept up to date.
Qualifications
Required
  • Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system specifications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with various test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment across multiple engineering and tooling disciplines.
  • Must be able to gain the appropriate Canadian government security clearance and satisfy all requirements to be able to work on Canadian Controlled Goods projects.
Desired
  • Programming skills in Python or LabVIEW for test development and automation.
  • Proven experience in an electronic manufacturing environment, preferably within the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Experience working in a high-volume production environment.
  • Experience with statistical tools for data analysis and visualization.

Typically, a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 3+ years of related experience. Associate Degree (or equivalent) preferred.
