Rouge River Farms is a vertically integrated grower, value-added manufacturer and marketer of fresh produce, specializing in green beans and sweetcorn. With operations across Canada and the USA, we partner with the continent’s largest grocers, providing them with the highest quality produce. Over the years, the Gormley operation has partnered with RRF leadership to secure the leading market share position, by providing outstanding service and quality.

Role Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Night Shift Supervisor to lead and oversee all production activities at our Gormley facility. This is a seasonal position, with night shift operations typically running from late April or early May until October each year, aligned with our peak sweetcorn production season.

This role requires a hands-on leader capable of driving in productivity, quality, and safety while creating a positive culture and ensuring smooth transitions between shifts. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a keen eye for process improvement, and a firm commitment to worker and food safety.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Supervise and support night shift production staff to meet shift objectives.
  • Monitor attendance, performance, and conduct of night shift team members.
  • Ensure proper shift handovers and communication with day shift leadership.
  • Promote a respectful, safe, and team-oriented work culture.
  • Encourage accountability in safety, quality, and waste awareness.
  • Production Oversight
  • Manage tray-packing and production line operations throughout the night.
  • Ensure nightly production goals are achieved for output, quality, and efficiency.
  • Monitor line performance and address downtime or process disruptions promptly.
  • Verify proper handling and packaging of sweetcorn per company and regulatory
  • standards.
  • Follow production practices that support waste reduction and product consistency.
  • Compliance & Safety
  • Uphold all food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP, CFIA, SQF)
  • Ensure worker safety in accordance with Ontario health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct nightly facility checks for cleanliness, maintenance, and equipment status.
  • Report and escalate equipment or compliance issues to appropriate departments.
  • Process Improvement
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Identify and report opportunities to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate with QA and maintenance teams to ensure consistent product quality.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in Food Processing, Manufacturing Operations, or a related field is
  • preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in food production or packaging.
  • Strong understanding of food safety protocols and production environments.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and night shift operations is an asset.
  • Ability to work overnight hours consistently (typically 4 : 30 PM to 2 : 30 AM,
  • seasonally).
  • English is the primary language of communication; Spanish-speaking is strongly preferred.
