Job summary

RainCity Housing and Support Society is seeking a Support Worker for the Sechelt Shelter. The role involves providing shelter and supportive services to adults experiencing homelessness, with a focus on safety, basic care, and community engagement.

The position is part-time at 0.8 FTE, temporary until April 13, 2027, with night shifts Tue–Fri 11:00 PM–7:00 AM. The site is at 5653 Wharf Ave, Sechelt, BC, and a night shift premium applies.

Qualifications

• Diploma in community social services or equivalent.
• Two years of related work experience preferred.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency shelter and support to homeless community members.
• Manage shelter operations: cleaning, laundry, food service, bedding, and safety.
• Coordinate shelter intakes and communicate housing plans between shifts.
• Engage residents with harm-reduction and client-centred strategies.
• Mentor staff and casuals; orient, train, and support team cohesion.
