Job Description

Reports To: Night Manager/Front Office Manager

General Purpose: Audit, balance, and report on various hotel areas (e.g., food and beverage outlets, rooms/front desk, gift shop) to ensure accurate, timely information, adherence to policies, and fraud prevention.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Audit, balance, and report on all food and beverage outlets' cash and credit operations, including checks, over/short figures, deposits, house charges, promotional materials, and postings, resetting registers for accuracy.
  2. Audit, balance, post, and report on the front desk, including room charges, phone calls, folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures, and deposits, ensuring proper cash handling.
  3. Audit, balance, prepare, verify, and report on room information for performance monitoring.
  4. Prepare and input statistics and income journal sheets for daily reports.
  5. Balance and close all bank ticket codes.
  6. Run the night audit final to ensure all revenues are balanced nightly.
  7. Perform duties of a Front Desk Agent/Bellman, including check-ins and check-outs.
  8. Compile guest email addresses for comment cards and market research.
  9. Track guest issues in a master Guest Response Log, create a 'Flash Report' of hotel and restaurant activity, and distribute to staff.
  10. Supervise 3rd shift staff, including contracted security.
  11. Attend quarterly Night Staff meetings with management.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.
Qualifications
  • Accounting background preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate a PC, cash register, and calculator.
  • Ability to compile facts and figures.
  • Excellent guest relations and telephone etiquette skills.
  • Moderate hearing for communication with guests.
  • Good vision for viewing screens.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Good reading and literacy skills for reports and numbers.
  • Ability to lift files/papers up to 5 lbs. and luggage up to 50 lbs.
  • Mobility to move within hotel areas 15-20% of the time.
  • No continuous standing, climbing, or driving required.
  • Proficiency with computer, telephone, cash register, calculator (~90-95% of work time).
  • Must pass background check.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
