Job summary

moreng in Toronto is seeking an NPI Manager to lead a cross-functional team from design through production, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and cost targets across new and existing products.   • Strong Quality Engineer skills and familiarity with customer specs for aerospace companies such as MTU, GE, PW.
  • Knowledge of innovative cutting technologies on exotic alloys and build-to-print processes.
  • Deep knowledge of reading blueprints, tolerances and GD&T.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP data extraction and analysis.
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION

NPI (New Product Introduction) Manager oversees the process of bringing a new product (or existing product with obsolete process) from design to optimized customer production and final deliveries. Including first article approval and full industrialization to reach targeted financial and quality metrics as per design.

By coordinating cross-functional teams, managing timelines, budgets, and risks to ensure successful product launches that meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. Key responsibilities include leading project planning, communicating with stakeholders and senior management, resolving issues, driving design for manufacturability (DFM), and working with production partners and the supply chain.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • CNC Programming of all the Machining Operations using innovative techniques to guarantee a lights out process (closed doors)
  • Process Development & Validation: develop, innovate, and improve manufacturing processes, ensuring they are validated and compliant with regulatory and quality requirements
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: lead and coordinate teams across design, engineering, quality assurance, marketing, and operations to ensure smooth product introductions
  • Project & Budget Management: set project timelines and budgets, manage project financial expenditures, and request funding for capital equipment
  • Technical Oversight: provide technical leadership for manufacturing aspects of new products, including during quotations, ensuring manufacturability and cost-effectiveness
  • Risk Management: conduct risk assessments, develop contingency plans, and resolve technical issues to prevent project delays
  • Continuous Improvement: implement quality and efficiency measures such as Lean and Six Sigma, and provide training on new equipment and processes
  • Stakeholder Communication: communicate with management and stakeholders to provide project updates and manage expectations
  • Technology Transition: lead the technology transfer process to the sustaining production team once a product is ready for full production
  • Ensure programs comply with AS9100, customer specific quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage production cost with expected quoted costs achieving expected gross margin
  • Team Leadership & Development: oversee and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers; handle hiring, performance reviews, and career development
  • Strategic Planning: align engineering goals with broader company objectives; plan for future capacity needs and long-term facility layouts
  • Create clear and concise technical documents, drawings, instructions and specifications
  • Lead and work with numerous departments to effectively create and launch new processes
  • Coordinate the design, build, sourcing and try-out of equipment, tooling and processes within an agreed timeline for a particular product, in cooperation with manufacturing and engineering
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of process FMEAs and control plans
  • Complete additional projects and responsibilities as required

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or MS from a four-year college or university preferred, majors include mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent experience in the industry, preferably aerospace
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt an asset
  • AS9100 knowledge and training
  • Export Control / ITAR / Controlled Goods training
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE
  • 5 or more years in the aerospace manufacturing industry in a CNC Programmer role
  • Must have strong programming knowledge on machine deburring, probing, 3-4-5 axis milling, turn milling, tool laser measurement set up, Vericut, SPC monitoring
  • Minimum 5 years experience in CNC programming on Inconel, titanium or stainless components
  • Strong Quality Engineer skills and very familiar with customer specs for aerospace companies such as MTU, GE, PW
  • Strong knowledge of innovative cutting technologies on special material including exotic alloys
  • Strong knowledge of build-to-print manufacturing processes, including machining, special processes, and assembly
  • Deep knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and how to extract data from them
  • Excellent time management, able to meet tight deadlines and prioritize under pressure
  • Solid organizational skills, detail oriented, diligent, thorough, accurate and professional
  • Strong customer service skills, confident interacting with senior customer representatives
  • Excellent influencing skills and the ability to drive actions to closure with high problem ownership
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, communication and listening skills
  • Work safely, adhering to Health and Safety policy, and maintain a high level of 5S
  • Very good knowledge of AS9100 and QMS
  • Strong knowledge of APQP and PPAP standards for machining products and processes
  • Deep knowledge of reading blueprints, tolerances and GD&T
  • Good knowledge of CMM programming techniques and advanced measurement tools
