Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a dedicated Environmental Services staff member to maintain clean and safe patient-care areas. The role requires physical work, operating floor scrubbers and vacuums, and adhering to safety standards within a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning tasks, responding to calls, and supporting a culture of safety while upholding the CUPE 139 collective agreement terms. Bilingual English/French is an asset, and reliability is essential.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate ability to respond to all Codes (Red, White, etc).
• Grade 12 or equivalent required.
• Completion of the Ontario Health Care Housekeepers Association Environmental Services Course for Front Line Staff an asset.
• Must be available for scheduled shifts and call-ins.
• Must complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) or a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), as applicable to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

• Grade 12 Graduate or equivalent required
• Must demonstrate ability to respond to all Codes (Red, White, etc)
• Completion of the Ontario Health Care Housekeepers Association Environmental Services Course for Front Line Staff an asset

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to clean the physical environment
• Ability to push/pull carts (1.5 kg to 10 kg force) and lift 18kg
• Be willing and prepared to operate all housekeeping related equipment including automatic floor scrubber, vacuum and steam cleaner.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position including continuous/frequent: walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 18 kg), twisting and the ability to climb ladders as needed
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required
• Must be available for scheduled shifts and call-ins
• Good attendance and work record required
• Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients volunteers and visitors
• Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset
