At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry.

Imagine playing a central role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada's busiest public transit system. As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your extensive networking and infrastructure expertise. You’ll work alongside innovative, dedicated, and collaborative teammates. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation by ensuring the robustness and efficiency of our data center operations. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity), managing and optimizing our hybrid environment, and much more. We’ll look to you for:

  1. Virtualization and Kubernetes
    • Deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Hyper-Converged Infrastructures based on VMware hypervisor for virtual machines and SUSE Harvester and OpenShift Kubernetes clusters for containerized workloads.

    • Participating in deploying project-specific virtualized platforms for Integrated Control Center systems.
  2. Networking & Cybersecurity
    • Designing, implementing, and supporting advanced high-available network architectures, using modern routing protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and MPLS.
    • Configuring, monitoring, and maintaining physical and virtual network and security devices: routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS appliances (Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, and HPE).
    • Monitoring the high availability and performance of network services through regular health checks and optimization using tools such as Zabbix, Netbox, OpenSearch, Solarwinds, and ManageEngine products.
    • Implementing and monitoring endpoint security controls policies (McAfee ePO).
    • Following company and project-specific security policies based on NIST 800-53.
  3. DevOps Activities
    • Participating in Infrastructure as Code deployments using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
    • Using GIT for configuration versioning and management.
  4. System Administration
    • Administering and securing Linux and Windows servers.
    • Designing and performing operating systems and applications updates and patches.
    • Implementing and monitoring system backups and replication based on project requirements.
    • Following ITSM best practices according to ITILv4.
  5. Hardware and Infrastructure
    • Installing, configuring, and maintaining IT infrastructure (Dell VxRail, VBlock, or HPE hyperconverged environment).
    • Installing, configuring, and managing storage equipment (SAN, NAS, NFS, etc.) (Dell DataDomain).
    • Participating in the decision-making process on new hardware purchases.
  6. Troubleshooting and Support
    • Diagnosing and resolving infrastructure and network issues.
    • Providing advanced support for system and network escalations.
  7. Documentation and Monitoring
    • Creating and maintaining detailed documentation for systems, networks, and configurations.
    • Supporting documentation processes at the project level.
