Job summary

Insight Global in Vancouver is seeking a Platform Engineer, Network Operations, to design and build internal developer platforms and core infrastructure. You will architect Kubernetes platforms, implement IaC, and deliver self‑service capabilities for engineering teams to provision infrastructure safely.

You will also build observability platforms, run DR tests, and lead incident response, collaborating with application teams and mentoring junior engineers on platform engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4–8 years designing platform solutions, implementing infrastructure as code, and building scalable distributed systems, or equivalent.
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex platform solutions with self-service capabilities; lead design discussions on platform automation approaches with trade-offs.
• Experience supporting enterprise Network Operations environments across retail, DCs, offices, data centers, cloud environments, and remote connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with network tech such as Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki, Aviatrix, Juniper, Zscaler, routing/switching, firewalls, VPN, cloud networking.
• Familiar with SolarWinds, Splunk, Datadog, PagerDuty, ServiceNow; ITSM platforms; observability dashboards; scripting (Python/PowerShell); IaC tools; config management; packet capture.

• Lead incident response for platform issues including root cause analysis, mitigation, and implementing preventive measures.

Job description

As a Platform Engineer, Network Operations you will design and build internal developer platforms and core infrastructure independently that enable engineering velocity and operational excellence. You will engineer Kubernetes platforms and container orchestration solutions, build CI/CD tooling and delivery pipelines, and create self-service capabilities that allow application teams to provision infrastructure and deploy services safely and efficiently. You will build and deploy observability platforms including logging systems, metrics collection, distributed tracing, and monitoring dashboards, conduct infrastructure validation and disaster recovery testing, and respond to platform incidents. You will collaborate with application engineering teams to understand requirements, make platform design decisions within established architecture, and mentor junior engineers on platform engineering practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
• 4-8 years of experience designing platform solutions, implementing infrastructure as code, and building scalable distributed systems, or equivalent
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex platform solutions with self-service capabilities; track record of leading design discussions on platform automation approaches presenting trade-offs.
• Experience supporting enterprise Network Operations environments, including retail stores, distribution centers, corporate offices, data centers, cloud environments, remote workforce connectivity, LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, Wi‑Fi, firewall, routing, switching, VPN, DNS/DHCP/IPAM, voice, circuits, carrier services, and third-party managed network services
• Hands‑on experience with Network Operations technologies, tools, and platforms such as Cisco SD-WAN, Cisco Meraki, Aviatrix, Juniper, Zscaler, enterprise routing and switching platforms, wireless controllers, firewalls, VPN, cloud networking, carrier circuits
• Network monitoring tools familiarity with SolarWinds, Splunk, Datadog, PagerDuty, ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platforms, network monitoring and alerting tools, event correlation platforms, observability dashboards, automation runbooks, scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell, infrastructure as code tools, configuration management platforms, packet capture and troubleshooting tools, vendor or carrier portals
