Gala Solutions in Montreal is seeking an experienced network engineer to evaluate, design, and troubleshoot enterprise-scale data centre networks. You will develop BoM, topology diagrams, and migration plans while mentoring teammates and collaborating with security and enterprise teams.

The ideal candidate brings CCIE-level expertise, strong presentation skills, and hands-on experience with Cisco/Arista platforms, Visio, and automation tools like Ansible to drive secure, scalable architectures.

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience designing and implementing large-scale networks in financial services, technology vendors, or systems integrators.
  • Expert level knowledge of Ethernet, IP routing, VXLAN, and multi-tier security architectures.
  • Experience with scripting/automation using Python or Ansible is a strong plus.
  • Ability to author design documents and maintain architecture standards.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, engineer, design, and troubleshoot enterprise-scale data centre networks.
  • Develop BoM, network topologies, and Visio diagrams.
  • Plan migrations and provide weekend escalation support.
  • Mentor team members and participate in weekly design meetings.
  • Act as escalation point during outages; communicate risks and plan with PMs.

Job description

The engineer will be responsible for evaluating, engineering, designing, and troubleshooting enterprise-scale Data Centre networks. As part of the Network Engineering team, the engineer is required to collaborate with the Enterprise Computing team, Security team and End-User technologies to understand the applications and provide end-to-end network solutions as per the firm?s network standards. This includes selecting the right platforms, developing Bill of Material (BoM), designing new network topologies, creating and maintaining Visio diagrams and configuration templates, assigning and maintaining IP address, developing migration plans, and providing weekend escalation support for involved projects.

The candidate will be responsible for? authoring of design documents, engineering standards, and creating best practice technical architecture models utilizing knowledge of industry and technical trends? mentoring and knowledge transfer to team members across the organization. participating in the weekly design meetings? engaging with project managers to develop the execution and test plans for network changes. Serve as an escalation for the operating teams during network outages. Ability to work both independently and as a team member is essential. Strong presentation skills are imperative to be able to explain network design, articulate risk, and facilitate decision-making. Strong security focus and experience with network security concepts and multi-tier security architectures.

Skills required: The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience with a financial services firm, technology vendor, or systems integrator designing and implementing large-scale networks.

Expert-Level Technical Skills Required? Ethernet technologies: SPT, 802.1Q, VPC, multilayer switching, and leaf-spine IP fabric? IP Routing: RIP, OSPF, BGP, MPBGP, TCP/IP? Multicast routing:

PIM, IGMP, MSDP, VXLAN? Platform knowledge on Cisco Switching & Routing Platforms Nexus 9000 Series Data Centre Switching Platform oASR 1000x Series Routers or oASR 9000 Series Routers? Platform Knowledge on Arista Switching Platforms? Working knowledge on various networks, including Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, NXOS, and IOS-XR. Arista EOSSkills Desired: ? Ability to use Microsoft applications such as Visio, Word, Excel, and Outlook?

Proficient in UNIX or Linux?

Certifications: CCIE or equivalent? Experience with scripting/automation using Python/Ansible is a strong plus.

Tools: DNA Center, Wireshark, Infoblox, HPNA, Splunk, Sevone, Ansible, and Netconf are a plus? WAN technologies: SONET/SDH, MPLS, Classic TDM? Working knowledge on SDN, SDWAN, and DMVPN? Sound knowledge in public cloud, Kubernetes, storage over IP, and VMware? Strong sense of security concepts include defense in depth, zero trust networking, the least privilege principle, and risks and controls. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be Flexible and adaptable to meet the team?s targets?Honest, hardworking, and reliable? Possess a strong sense of ownership/accountability?
