Job summary

Recurrent Energy Power Services (Canada) Inc is seeking a NERC Compliance Supervisor to support, coordinate, and strengthen compliance within the Operations Control Centre for utility-scale PV and BESS assets.

You will translate regulatory requirements into practical operating expectations, maintain audit readiness, and work with operators, engineers, and compliance personnel to ensure adherence to standards and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Education in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • 5+ years in control room/renewable energy operations.
  • 2+ years in leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Experience with utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS operations.
  • Experience in a 24/7 operations environment.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, event reporting, and operational reporting tools.
  • Direct experience in NERC-related entity operations and compliance program execution.

The NERC Compliance Supervisor is responsible for supporting, coordinating, and strengthening compliance with applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) requirements within the Operations Control Centre supporting utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets. This role serves as a key link between control centre operations, compliance programs, procedures, evidence management, training, and internal stakeholders to help ensure the organization maintains a strong culture of reliability, operational discipline, and audit readiness. The NERC Compliance Supervisor works closely with operators, supervisors, operations leadership, compliance personnel, engineering, cybersecurity, and external stakeholders to ensure required processes are implemented, followed, documented, and continuously improved. This role helps translate regulatory requirements into practical operating expectations and supports the control centre in maintaining compliance with applicable standards, internal procedures, and evidence retention practices.

Accountabilities: NERC Compliance Program Support

Outcome: Support the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of NERC compliance programs relevant to the Operations Control Centre. Interpret applicable reliability standards and help translate them into practical control centre processes, procedures, and work expectations. Monitor compliance obligations affecting control centre operations and help ensure required actions, documentation, and timelines are met. Maintain awareness of changes to NERC standards, regional requirements, and related compliance expectations that may impact control centre operations. Coordinate with compliance leadership and operations management to assess applicability and operational impacts of new or revised requirements.

Accountabilities: Control Centre Compliance Oversight

Outcome: Support control centre personnel in executing work in accordance with approved procedures, compliance requirements, and reliability expectations. Review operational practices, logs, records, and workflows to identify compliance gaps, weaknesses, or risks. Help ensure operators and supervisors understand their compliance-related responsibilities, including communication protocols, event logging, evidence requirements, and escalation expectations. Promote procedural discipline and consistency across shifts and operating teams. Assist with the development of controls to ensure compliance-sensitive activities are performed consistently and can be demonstrated during audits.

Accountabilities: Procedure and Documentation Management

Outcome: Develop, review, update, and maintain procedures, work instructions, checklists, guidance documents, and compliance support materials for control centre operations. Ensure operating procedures align with applicable NERC requirements, company policies, and operational realities. Support document control practices for compliance-related procedures and evidence. Coordinate regular reviews of procedures and ensure revisions are communicated, understood, and implemented. Maintain organized and audit-ready records related to control centre compliance activities.

Accountabilities: Evidence Management and Audit Readiness

Outcome: Oversee collection, validation, organization, and retention of compliance evidence related to control centre responsibilities. Support internal compliance reviews, self-assessments, spot checks, mock audits, and readiness activities. Assist in preparing responses to audit requests, data requests, and internal reviews. Track compliance commitments, action items, findings, and remediation plans to completion. Help ensure evidence is complete, consistent, traceable, and stored in accordance with retention requirements.

Accountabilities: Training and Workforce Readiness

Outcome: Conduct routine reviews of logs, communications records, operator documentation, shift turnovers, and other compliance-relevant activities. Identify non-conformances, procedural drift, missed evidence, or gaps in execution and work with leadership to address them. Support root cause reviews, lessons learned, and corrective action development following compliance issues, operational events, or audit findings. Track corrective actions and improvement initiatives to closure. Recommend improvements to processes, tools, templates, and oversight practices to strengthen compliance performance.

Accountabilities: Cross-Functional Coordination

Outcome: Coordinate with operations, engineering, asset management, cybersecurity, IT, document control, and compliance teams to support compliance program execution. Act as a key point of contact within the control centre for compliance-related questions, process clarification, and evidence coordination. Support communication with external entities, auditors, consultants, and regional reliability organizations as directed. Assist management in balancing operational realities with regulatory requirements and risk reduction priorities.

Accountabilities: Reporting and Leadership Support

Outcome: Prepare reports, dashboards, and summaries related to compliance status, evidence completion, procedure reviews, training completion, audit readiness, and open action items. Provide management with visibility into emerging compliance risks, recurring issues, and areas requiring support. Support strategic planning for compliance improvement within the control centre environment. Supervise or coordinate the work of compliance analysts, document coordinators, or operational support staff if assigned. Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Education Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Engineering, Renewable Energy, Operations Management, or a related technical field preferred.

Equivalent relevant operational experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience 5+ years of experience in control room operations, utility operations, renewable energy operations, power generation, grid operations, or a related field preferred.

2+ years of leadership, supervisory, senior operator, or shift lead experience preferred.

Experience with utility‑scale solar PV and/or BESS operations is strongly preferred.

Experience in a 24/7 operations environment is strongly preferred.

Experience with SCADA systems, alarm management, event tracking, and operational reporting tools is preferred.

Direct experience in NERC‑related entity operations and compliance program execution is required.

Demonstrated expertise in applying NERC standards (TOP, IRO, EOP, PER, CIP, PRC) in a control room environment.

Direct experience in NERC‑registered entity operations, audit defense, and compliance program management.

Other Requirements

Completion of 7 year international background check.
