Job summary

Thales Canada Defence & Security is seeking a Naval Architecture Sub-Discipline Manager to lead and resource the Naval Architecture team across projects from requirements through design, development and test.

The role focuses on mentoring and coaching engineers, improving discipline practices, and ensuring compliance with SOLAS and other standards while enabling competitive solutions within a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Naval Architecture or related field.
• Experience with naval architecture tools and standards (SOLAS, LSA, ISO, IACS).
• Minimum 2 years as a people or resource manager.
• Strong written and verbal English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate resources to deliver bids, projects, and products.
• Plan team workload in the short, medium and long term.
• Develop team skills to support bids, projects and products.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career management and succession planning.
• Coach, mentors and develops the team.
• Lead the team to meet company expectations for productivity, chargeability, quality, continual improvement and objectives.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed, including timesheets, time off, and travel.
• Establish, standardize and evolve processes, procedures and tooling for the discipline.
• Develop lessons learned and share knowledge across the discipline.
• Life cycle and materiel management for platforms, including repairs and disposals.
• Prepare stability calculations and technical documentation for vessels.
