Job summary

Matchtech in Canada seeks a Naval Architect to join a leading marine engineering consultancy in the defence sector. The role is hybrid with Halifax, Victoria, or Ottawa as possible locations.

You will own design delivery, mentor junior staff, translate complex concepts into practical solutions, perform CAD modelling and analysis, and prepare technical reports while coordinating project planning and client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Naval Architecture or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering body registration or membership.
  • Experience in naval architecture.

Job description

Our client, a leading marine engineering consultancy in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Naval Architect to join their team in Canada, in either Halifax, Victoria, or Ottawa. This is a hybrid role, offering a blend of on-site and remote work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Taking ownership of design delivery, ensuring quality, precision, and adherence to standards
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships while mentoring emerging talent
  • Translating complex concepts into practical engineering solutions
  • Conducting engineering analysis and CAD modelling
  • Preparing technical reports and documentation
  • Managing project planning and ensuring timely delivery
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders and managing client relationships
  • Leading and mentoring team members, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in naval architecture design and analysis
  • Proficiency in CAD and 3D modelling
  • Knowledge of marine engineering standards and compliance
  • Strong technical reporting and documentation skills
  • Effective project planning and time management capabilities
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and client management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
  • Experience in team leadership and mentoring
