Job summary

Saulteau First Nations Mission seeks a proactive Communications Specialist to lead a nationwide communications strategy that is clear, consistent and culturally respectful.

You will manage internal/external communications, newsletters, media releases, and social media, while maintaining SFN web presence and acting as a positive organizational ambassador across departments and communities.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Web design or equivalent with 1 year experience.
• Equivalencies considered, including a Communications certificate with 2 years experience.
• Experience using a publishing program is required.
• Knowledge of SFN traditions, community and culture is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills with all organizational levels.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, email and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with audio-visual resources and presentations.
• Ability to prepare and conduct presentations.
• High integrity and discretion with confidential information.
• Attention to detail and sound judgment; CPR/records check as required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for SFN.
• Coordinate internal and external communications, newsletters, media releases and reports.
• Manage SFN social media and website updates with current news and events.
• Act as ambassador for SFN and support Chief and Council communications.
• Collaborate across departments to align messaging with priorities and values.
• Build relationships with local media and partner organizations.
• Publish banners and posters as requested.
• Promote SFN goodwill through public relations and communications.
• Create community awareness of events, workshops and meetings.
• Track engagement analytics and adjust strategies as needed.
• Ensure cultural respect in all communications and platform usage.
