Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel is seeking a Senior Implementation Lead to manage customer-focused Sea & Air Logistics projects from planning through handover. You will partner with commercial owners, map current and future processes, align on scope, and drive successful go-lives across global customers.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in sea/air logistics, 3+ years of leadership, and a proven ability to lead complex customer implementations, with strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Sea Logistics, Air Logistics, Freight Forwarding, or International Supply Chain Management.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, including managing cross-functional teams, projects, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, including Customer Onboarding, Implementation, Order Management, Transportation Management, and Destination Management.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to lead complex customer implementations from planning through execution and handover.
  • Excellent consultative, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience evaluating operational processes, identifying risks, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in process mapping, workflow design, and implementing operational best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of sea and air logistics operations, including import/export processes, transportation management, and international forwarding operations.
  • Hands-on experience with freight forwarding and carrier operational systems, as well as EDI integrations and domestic transportation management.
  • Experience working with customer-facing implementation projects and leading cross-functional teams to deliver successful logistics solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer-facing implementation projects for Sea & Air Logistics using GCIM methodology.
  • Partner with commercial owners and stakeholders to review and validate project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop, maintain, and obtain sign-off on project charters to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Oversee process analysis, mapping, and workflow documentation (As Is/To Be) for solution design.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess technology requirements and align with business processes.
  • Ensure all supporting systems are configured and tested prior to go-live and first shipment.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans with milestones and risk mitigation.
  • Provide regular status updates and maintain project documentation and risk registers.
  • Coordinate SOPs and work instructions development and implementation.
  • Facilitate training programs for operations teams, customers, and suppliers.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and reporting frameworks for performance.
  • Conduct risk assessments of requirements, SOWs, SOPs, and proposed solutions.
  • Manage hyper-care activities and handovers to Account Management.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

How you create impact
  • Lead customer-facing implementation projects for Sea & Air Logistics using Kuehne+Nagel's Global Customer Implementation Methodology (GCIM).
  • Partner with commercial owners and key stakeholders to review and validate project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Develop, maintain, and obtain stakeholder sign-off on project charters to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Oversee process analysis, process mapping, and workflow documentation, including current-state ("As Is") and future-state ("To Be") solution design.
  • Collaborate with project teams to assess technology requirements and ensure alignment with business processes.
  • Ensure all supporting systems and platforms are fully configured and tested prior to operational go-live and first shipment.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans, ensuring milestones, timelines, and deliverables are achieved while proactively mitigating risks.
  • Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders, maintaining accurate project documentation, risk registers, action logs, and issue tracking.
  • Coordinate the development, review, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Facilitate training programs for Kuehne+Nagel operations teams, customers, and suppliers to support successful implementation and adoption.
  • Establish and monitor quality metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and internal and customer-facing reporting frameworks.
  • Conduct risk assessments of customer requirements, Statements of Work (SOWs), SOPs, and proposed solutions, identifying and escalating potential financial, operational, or compliance risks.
  • Manage customer hyper-care activities following implementation, ensuring a smooth transition to steady-state operations and successful handover to the Account Management team.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration among commercial, operational, systems, and customer stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

  • The target base salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $113,000.
