Position Summary:
This role leads the effective management and maintenance of the distribution centres' quality and compliance systems. All supply chain activities, from inbound freight receipt and inventory management to restaurant delivery, are monitored and audited for quality and business process by the compliance manager.
Responsibilities
This leader, a subject matter expert, partners with the local distribution management team to ensure the highest levels of food safety and quality. Through continuous improvement, this leader aims to meet key performance metrics and support operations by focusing on audit, quality, business process, and inventory management.
- Responsible for the quality performance of the distribution centre from an audit, risk, and compliance perspective through evaluations and KPIs.
- Ensure operations comply with governmental regulations such as the Safe Foods for Canadians act, risk systems, and HACCP programs.
- Monitor industry best practices, technological/process changes, or legislation, and recommend opportunities to leadership.
- Handle resolution and disposition of non-conforming products and approve supplier concessions.
- Lead local stock recovery efforts, ensuring product and resource management for successful execution and traceability.
- Manage internal and external audits, ensuring findings are addressed by local leadership.
- Partner strategically to support revisions to business processes and workflows to exceed objectives.
- Monitor restaurant complaints related to food safety and quality, collaborating with McDonald's quality system and suppliers.
- Use data analytics to identify issues and recommend improvements.
- Ensure completion of corrective actions following audits, adhering to GFSI quality systems.
- Support global Martin-Brower quality initiatives.
- Own the implementation and maintenance of quality processes and tools, such as temperature monitoring and warehouse management systems.
- Develop success metrics and drive continuous quality improvement throughout the supply chain.
- Ensure compliance with SFCR, GFSI, GWP, and GDP regulations.
- Perform other projects or duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years managing a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and influencing skills.
- Problem-solving abilities with clear action and deliverable definition.
- Critical thinking skills for identifying irregularities.
- Excellent presentation and analytical skills.
- High initiative, self-motivation, sense of urgency, and leadership qualities.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%, mainly within Canada and the US.
- Must pass a post-offer background check.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience in food handling distribution or processing systems, preferably servicing the restaurant trade.
