Qualifications

  • 10 to 15 years of hands-on MW lab and field work experience.
  • Knowledge of legacy and modern MW equipment configurations.
  • Good communication skills, with French spoken as an asset.

Job description

YRH Inc. is looking for serious, determined, and team-oriented candidates to offer them a permanent position in Metro Vancouver, as well as, depending on interest and profile, in the offices of some of YRH’s clients in Metro Vancouver. Candidates may be asked to travel to customer telecommunications sites across BC and Alberta. Candidates will be directly involved in MW design, MW equipment lab setup and install, test case creation, lab testing & analysis.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager or the Customer's Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Setting up a MW lab at customers' facilities including:
    • Racking
    • Cabling
  • Setting up test cases based on customer requirements and configurations
  • Executing test cases in customer lab
  • Test results analysis and troubleshooting
  • Communicating with client, partners, and equipment vendor
  • Design of MW point-to-point links
  • Creating MW installation instructions based on industry best practices
  • On-site validation and supervision of MW installations
  • Troubleshooting issues on MW links and networks
  • Waveguide transmission line sweeps measurements

Profile and Requirements:

  • Electrical technologist or engineering degree from an accredited institution
  • Member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC considered an asset
  • 10 to 15 years experience related to hands-on MW lab and field work
  • Knowledge of legacy and modern MW equipment including but not limited to the following configurations:
    • TDM equipment
    • Long-haul, high-powered equipment
    • All indoor installations
    • Frequency Diversity, Quad Diversity
    • Space diversity, split Tx
    • ACM
  • Knowledge of common MW lab and field installation and troubleshooting equipment:
    • Spectrum Analyzer
    • RF Generator
    • Vector Network Analyser (VNA)
    • RF Power Meter
    • BER test set
  • Working knowledge of modelling tools such as Pathloss 5.1 and 6
  • Experience in MW design
  • Knowledge of MW deployment issues and troubleshooting
  • Planning, design, coordination, and project management
  • Autonomous, responsible, and self-motivated
  • Anticipate travel within Metro Vancouver and greater BC
  • Good communication skills, written and oral (French spoken an asset)

Knowledge considered an asset but not required:

  • LMR systems
  • PTMP LTE
  • DAS
