Job summary

The County of Simcoe is seeking a Historical Interpreter to join the Simcoe County Museum team. Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Education & Visitor Engagement, you will design and deliver education programs, interpret exhibits, and support day camps and special events.

You will travel to local community events, wear period costumes, conduct guided tours, and perform research to enhance programming. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• One year post-secondary education in a discipline related to the museum field (educational equivalency may apply).
• Completion of an O.M.A. certificate in museum studies would be an asset.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to act independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Knowledge in historical techniques or trades would be an asset.
• Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Valid G class driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Present education and interpretation programs for the Simcoe County Museum.
• Assist with museum special events.
• Represent the museum at local community events and conduct educational programming.
• Set up and clean up materials for programs and events.
• Deliver educational outreach programs to diverse audiences.
• Design, develop and deliver education programs and day camps.
