Job summary

ISL is seeking a Municipal Planning Engineer focused on hydraulic modelling and planning to join its Western Canada team from the Burnaby office. You will work with a multi-disciplinary group on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects across BC and Alberta, coordinating CAD technologists and liaising with clients to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions.

The role requires a P.Eng. with EGBC registration and 4+ years of related experience, with strong communication skills and expertise

Qualifications

• P.Eng. designation with EGBC registration.
• Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong skills in modelling and planning in water, wastewater or stormwater.
• Experience with hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, InfoWater Pro, AquaTwin Water/Sewer, MIKE URBAN/Mike +, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, or HECRAS.

Responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, and design urban hydraulic systems (potable water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater drainage).
• Complete hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of complex urban drainage systems using state of the art software.
• Apply your innovative and unique perspective to plan systems that a municipality can be proud of today and in the future.
• Contribute to the learning and progression of artificial intelligence and automation in our industry.
• Complete and submit proposals.
• Leverage your strong skills in water, wastewater and stormwater (including LID) to mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate CAD design technologists to prepare designs.
• Prepare engineering reports, documents, and figures.
• Perform quality management – ensuring quality procedures are followed for drawings and reports.
• Develop and maintain ongoing client relationships.

This position works directly with the Municipal Infrastructure Planning Team out of our Burnaby office, as part of our broader OneISL Municipal Infrastructure Planning team managed out of Calgary.

ISL’s Municipal Infrastructure Planning Team

is a collaborative group of 13 individuals across Alberta and BC focused on planning and optimizing municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. We combine expertise in hydraulic modelling, master planning, and sustainable development to support infrastructure delivery across Western Canada. Our team is currently part of the larger Water Team which is made up of 30 individuals who have close working relationships centered around water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects. We have expertise in water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations and reservoirs, linear infrastructure for collection and distribution and of course water resources planning.

• $100,000 to $115,000 per annum
