Job summary

ISL Engineering & Land Services in Calgary seeks a senior-level professional to lead water and wastewater process design within our Municipal Engineering group. The role focuses on guiding a dedicated team through project planning, design and construction with an emphasis on sustainable, long-term design delivery.

You will bring extensive experience in municipal process projects, drive cross-disciplinary collaboration, and mentor staff while delivering quality, on-schedule outcomes for public

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and a P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration as a P.Eng. with APEGA
• 10+ years of related experience in planning, designing, and administering Water/Wastewater design and construction projects
• Related experience in water and wastewater process design including piping, pumps, and associated equipment
• Project management experience including budget and schedule tracking, client liaison, internal discipline coordination, team coordination, overall project administration

Responsibilities

• Assisting the Manager, Municipal Engineering in implementing strategic business development plans, contributing insights and helping to monitor the client pipeline
• Maintaining client relationships, providing input on evolving client needs and contributing to the retention efforts
• Leading the coordination and preparation of proposals, providing key input on project resourcing and skill requirements
• Ensuring that project resourcing is aligned with strategic goals, facilitating effective cross-office collaboration and resource allocation
• Overseeing project documentation standards within the team, ensuring consistency and accuracy while respecting regional differences
• Leading cost estimation efforts, and take responsibility for managing scope changes in projects
• Leading projects, ensuring quality delivery within budget and timeline constraints, and provide support on larger projects as needed
• Completing peer reviews to ensure quality deliverables
• Providing day-to-day leadership and support to staff, ensuring they are motivated and aligned with organizational goals
• Leading report and technical memo writing, providing senior reviews
• Completing contract administration during the construction phase of projects
• Actively mentoring staff by providing guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
• Assisting in the recruitment and onboarding of new staff, ensuring they are integrated smoothly into the team
• Fostering a positive work environment that emphasizes work-life balance, team cohesion, and ongoing improvement

About the Role

ISL’s Calgary Water/Wastewater Service Line, as part of our Municipal Sector, provides expert assessment, design, construction and commissioning services for water and wastewater systems in communities. We are a multi-disciplinary team of over 20 ISLers, providing services in and around Western Canada.

We are looking for a person to join our close knit team who can apply their knowledge and experience in detailed design and project management to deliver a variety of services for our public and private sector clients with a focus on efficient, sustainable, long term designs. We offer our team members a diverse range of projects on which to hone their skills and are committed to mentorship and career progression.
