ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. is seeking a Municipal Planning Engineer focused on hydraulic modelling and planning to join our Burnaby office.

You will contribute to the Municipal Infrastructure Planning Team across Western Canada, collaborating with engineers and technologists on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. The ideal candidate holds a P.Eng with EGBC, brings at least four years of related experience, and excels in client communication, reporting, and mentoring junior

Qualifications

• P.Eng designation with EGBC registration is required.
• Minimum of 4 years of related experience in municipal infrastructure planning.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience in hydraulic modelling for urban water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
• Proficiency with leading hydraulic modelling software listed in the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, and design urban hydraulic systems (potable water, wastewater, stormwater).
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of complex urban drainage systems using state-of-the-art software.
• Coordinate CAD technologists to prepare designs and drawings.
• Prepare engineering reports, documents, and figures; contribute to proposals.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and support business development.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

This position works directly with the Municipal Infrastructure Planning Team out of our Burnaby office, as part of our broader OneISL Municipal Infrastructure Planning team managed out of Calgary.

ISL’s Municipal Infrastructure Planning Team is a collaborative group of 13 individuals across Alberta and BC focused on planning and optimizing municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. We combine expertise in hydraulic modelling, master planning, and sustainable development to support infrastructure delivery across Western Canada. About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and a commitment to quality, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively liaise with clients. While no two days look the same, you can expect to:

• Plan, analyze, and design urban hydraulic systems (potable water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater drainage)
• Complete hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of complex urban drainage systems using state of the art software
• Apply your innovative and unique perspective to plan systems that a municipality can be proud of today and in the future
• Contribute to the learning and progression of artificial intelligence and automation in our industry
• Complete and submit proposals
• Leverage your strong skills in water, wastewater and stormwater (including LID) to mentor junior staff
• Coordinate CAD design technologists to prepare designs
• Prepare engineering reports, documents, and figures
• Perform quality management – ensuring quality procedures are followed for drawings and reports
• Develop and maintain ongoing client relationships

• Experience with hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, InfoWater Pro, AquaTwin Water/Sewer, MIKE URBAN/Mike +, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, or HECRAS

Assets:

• Familiarity with Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro
• Experience in consulting engineering environment

• $100,000 to $115,000 per annum
