Job summary

City of Delta is seeking an Engineering Project Technologist/EIT to join the Engineering department for approximately 13 months as a Temporary Full Time role. The incumbent will design municipal infrastructure, prepare design layouts and specifications, and act as a construction Project Manager representative to ensure compliance with plans and related specifications.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering Technology diploma and at least 3 years of municipal infrastructure experience, with

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized Institute of Technology.
• Minimum of three years of experience in municipal infrastructure design, drafting, construction, and inspection.
• Knowledge of common engineering design and construction practices.
• Experience with Master Municipal Construction Documents and typical engineering software.
• Strong engineering analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• A valid Class 5 BC Drivers' License; Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with ASTTBC as AScT or CTech.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design layouts, detail drawings, specifications, construction estimates and contract documents.
• Monitor construction to ensure compliance with plans, schedules and budgets.
• Provide design related direction to external engineering consultant firms.
• Act as Project Manager representative to liaise with internal and external contacts.
