Job summary

WSP in Canada in Manitoba is seeking a Municipal Engineer / Technologist to contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, drainage, and roadway systems that support resilient, sustainable communities.

You will apply engineering judgement, prepare designs and reports, support construction administration, and collaborate with regional and national teams. This role values bilingual ability and local code familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
  • P.Eng. or CET designation is an asset or eligibility to obtain.
  • 5–8 years of hands-on municipal infrastructure design and delivery.
  • Proficiency in water supply, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and road design.
  • Experience in Manitoba’s municipal engineering environment and codes.
  • Knowledge of civil design software and ability to interpret drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering judgement to the design and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, and roadway infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review designs, drawings, specifications, and technical reports per standards.
  • Support projects through detailed design and construction administration, ensuring quality, safety and compliance.
  • Conduct technical analysis and calculations for civil systems including water distribution and roads.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and specialists across regional and national teams.
  • Contribute to field reviews, inspections, and coordination with contractors during construction.
  • Support knowledge sharing and provide technical guidance to junior staff.

As a Municipal Engineer / Technologist, you will contribute directly to the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, drainage, and roadway systems that support resilient, sustainable communities. Responsibilities
  • Apply sound engineering judgement to the technical design and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, and roadway infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and technical reports in accordance with municipal and provincial standards.
  • Support projects through detailed design and construction administration, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct technical analysis and calculations for civil systems, including water distribution, sanitary sewers, stormwater management, and roadworks.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and specialists across regional and national teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to field reviews, inspections, and coordination with contractors during construction.
  • Support knowledge sharing and provide technical guidance to junior staff as part of a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or C.E.T. designation, or eligibility to obtain, is considered an asset.
  • 5–8 years of hands‑on technical experience in municipal infrastructure design and delivery.
  • Strong technical proficiency in water supply, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and roadway design.
  • Experience working within Manitoba’s municipal engineering environment, including applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of civil design software and tools used for municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents with a high level of accuracy.
  • Bilingual (French and English) communication skills are an asset.
Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,900 – $118,900

MB & ON: $81,900 – $112,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $81,100 – $107,700
