Job summary

R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited in Ontario invites applicants to join our Municipal Infrastructure and Roads team in Orangeville/Collingwood.

You will produce detailed AutoCAD Civil 3D drawings for municipal infrastructure projects, build 3D corridor models, and support roadway and underground pipe design to regulatory standards. Candidates should have a Civil Technology or CAD diploma, at least 3 years of municipal design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D and Microsoft 365, strong

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Civil Technology or Computer Drafting (AutoCAD/Civil 3D) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant municipal infrastructure design experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong design skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and PDF editing tools.
  • Effective communication and collaborative mindset.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license and reliable vehicle access.

Responsibilities

  • Producing detailed design drawings in AutoCAD Civil3D for municipal infrastructure and roads.

  • Designing roadway and underground pipe networks to meet standards.
  • Assisting with design calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
  • Preparing municipal provisions, schedules of items, and tender documents.
  • Supporting contract admins and inspectors during construction.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Job description

Our teams work with public and private sector clients on diverse range of civil infrastructure projects including municipal roadways, linear infrastructure, drainage and hydrology, water/wastewater systems, and stormwater management.

We are seeking candidates who are interested in working with our Municipal Infrastructure and Roads team based out of our Orangeville and Collingwood offices.

What You’ll Do
  • Producing detailed design drawings in AutoCAD Civil3D at various stages of the project – preliminary, detailed designs, and tenders for municipal infrastructure and roads.
  • Building and refining complex 3D corridor model
  • Supporting engineers in designing roadway and underground pipe networks that meet municipal and regulatory standards
  • Assisting with design calculations, quantity take-offs, and cost estimates.
  • Assisting with preparing municipal special provisions, schedule of items, and tender documents.
  • Supporting contract administrators and construction inspectors as needed during construction.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
  • A diploma in Civil Technology or Computer Drafting (AutoCAD/Civil 3D), or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in municipal infrastructure design and construction.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong design skills and a passion for precision and creativity.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and PDF editing tools.

  • High attention to detail and commitment to standards.
  • A valid Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Nice to Have
  • Progress toward OACETT certification.
  • Construction site inspection or field experience.
Salary Range:

$65,000 - $80,000

The final compensation offered will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
