Job summary

Taleo is seeking a Municipal By-law Enforcement Officer to investigate violations, collect evidence, and pursue remediation or prosecution as needed. The role involves inspecting private, residential, and commercial properties for by-law conformance and enforcing licensing and safety provisions.

Qualified candidates will have a Grade 12 diploma with municipal law training, 3+ years in a municipal setting, and a valid Ontario driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma with municipal law training.
  • MLEOA & OAPSO certifications within 3 years.
  • At least 3 years in a municipal setting.
  • Ability to interpret municipal by-laws and provincial acts.
  • Effective communication with homeowners, tenants and the public.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect properties to ensure by-law conformance (waste, zoning, licensing).
  • Investigate by-law violations and collect evidence for enforcement.
  • Enforce by-laws and advise non-compliant parties toward remediation.
  • Serve summons for offences and testify when required.
  • Enforce business licensing by-law and appear in court as witness.
  • Chair monthly by-law meetings and coordinate with teams.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
