The Department of Visual Studies (DVS) is an interdisciplinary department that stresses the importance of history, theory and studio practice in the study of the visual. We are committed to understanding the meaning and power of images and their impact on our lives. Courses examine art, architecture, media images, consumer culture, film, television, video games, political propaganda, new media, websites and more.

The Multi-Media & Classroom Technologist overseeing day-to-day operational needs for one or more labs/workshops. Troubleshooting issues with lab equipment and/or workstations. Editing post-production audio and/or visual
material. Analyzing data collected for publications and/or presentations use and analyzing multimedia activities and recommending changes to address technical issues during creative processes.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operational needs for one or more labs/workshops
  • Troubleshooting issues with lab equipment and/or workstations
  • Analyzing data collected for publications and/or presentations use
  • Analyzing multimedia activities and recommending changes to address technical issues during creative processes
  • Creating and/or editing original, published content and materials
  • Editing post-production audio and/or visual material
  • Keeping well-informed on policies, procedures, regulations and new technology

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of related experience
  • Experience maintaining and trouble-shooting equipment
  • Experience with purchasing lab equipment and tracking and maintaining inventory
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels, including faculty, staff and students
  • Keeping well-informed on policies, procedures, regulations and new technology
