Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is an 84 bed hospital located in Collingwood, Ontario (approximately 90 minutes north of Toronto) that serves more than 74,000 permanent residents and 3.5 Million annual visitors to the communities of Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Clearview and the Blue Mountains. CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardio respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). In addition, CGMH also provides care in specialty areas including obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care and surgery. The Hospital also provides out patient care including dialysis and a wide range of clinics including mental health and rehabilitation services. The Opportunity

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high quality examinations and MRI procedures to provide acceptable diagnostic information and patient care in accordance with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists Standards of Practice.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved training program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current certification and recent experience with initiating intravenous and contrast medium administration.
  • Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) membership or Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS) preferred.
  • Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be dedicated to professional growth & development.
  • Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Comply with the policies and procedures of the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and report any absence of or defect in equipment or protective devices to the Manager or Senior staff; take corrective action where applicable.
  • Ensure the safety of patients and staff within the MRI environment by monitoring the Magnetic Safety Zones and following proper safety practices.
  • Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) responsibilities and mentor staff in the appropriate use of IPAC practices.
  • Observe all aspects of personnel and patient safety protection in the MRI environment.
  • Deliver an efficient, compassionate, cooperative, and highly credible MRI service.
  • Produce high-quality images and perform related diagnostic tests/procedures with precision and accuracy.
  • Perform a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, skill, and ingenuity to produce optimal images.
  • Review and document patient medical history relevant to the examination.
  • Assess the diagnostic quality of individual studies and determine corrective measures if repeat or additional images are required to complete the exam.
  • Follow the Standards of Practice as outlined in the Policies and Procedures and Magnetic Safety Manuals.
  • Ensure efficient and effective utilization of bookings to maximize workflow and patient care.
  • Maintain inventory and supplies for the MRI area.
  • Maintain all quality control practices for MRI to meet accreditation and Ministry standards.
  • Actively participate in the Hospital’s Health and Safety Internal Responsibility System, maintaining accountability for defined responsibilities outlined in applicable legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute within the scope of the position to the enhancement of the patient experience through continuous improvement, learning, and teamwork, aiming to create an environment that is caring, inclusive, respectful, patient and family-centered, with a focus on excellence, innovation, and safety.
  • Collaborate with Radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate patient care and imaging outcomes.
  • Provide clear communication to patients and families, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and cooperation during the scan.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Hours of Work: Please be reminded that as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.

Wage: $36.84 - $51.77 per hour
