The Opportunity:

The MRI Technologist is responsiblefor performing high quality examinations and MRI procedures to provideacceptable diagnostic information and patient care in accordance with theCollege of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists Standards of Practice.

Qualifications:

  • Graduateof an approved training program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Currentregistration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and ImagingTechnologists of Ontario.
  • CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Currentcertification and recent experience with initiating intravenous and contrastmedium administration.
  • CanadianAssociation of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) membership or OntarioAssociation of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS) preferred.
  • Muststrive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients,staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Mustadhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health andSafety Act
  • Musthave an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the Englishlanguage in order to provide excellent communication with team members,patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) isconsidered an asset.
  • Musthave basic computer skills.
  • Mustbe dedicated to professional growth & development.
  • Mustbe able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, whichmay include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing,pulling, bending, etc.
  • Musthave demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record.
  • Excellentorganization and prioritization skills.
  • Abilityto work independently and effectively communicate with other members of thehealth care team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complywith the policies and procedures of the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Adhereto Occupational Health and Safety regulations and report any absence of ordefect in equipment or protective devices to the Manager or Senior staff; takecorrective action where applicable.
  • Ensurethe safety of patients and staff within the MRI environment by monitoring theMagnetic Safety Zones and following proper safety practices.
  • Adhereto Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) responsibilities and mentor staff inthe appropriate use of IPAC practices.
  • Observeall aspects of personnel and patient safety protection in the MRI environment.
  • Deliveran efficient, compassionate, cooperative, and highly credible MRI service.
  • Producehigh-quality images and perform related diagnostic tests/procedures withprecision and accuracy.
  • Performa variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, skill, andingenuity to produce optimal images.
  • Reviewand document patient medical history relevant to the examination.
  • Assessthe diagnostic quality of individual studies and determine corrective measuresif repeat or additional images are required to complete the exam.
  • Followthe Standards of Practice as outlined in the Policies and Procedures andMagnetic Safety Manuals.
  • Ensureefficient and effective utilization of bookings to maximize workflow andpatient care.
  • Maintaininventory and supplies for the MRI area.
  • Maintainall quality control practices for MRI to meet accreditation and Ministrystandards.
  • Activelyparticipate in the Hospital’s Health and Safety Internal Responsibility System,maintaining accountability for defined responsibilities outlined in applicablelegislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Contributewithin the scope of the position to the enhancement of the patient experiencethrough continuous improvement, learning, and teamwork, aiming to create anenvironment that is caring, inclusive, respectful, patient and family-centered,with a focus on excellence, innovation, and safety.
  • Collaboratewith Radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare professionals toensure appropriate patient care and imaging outcomes.
  • Provideclear communication to patients and families, explaining procedures andensuring comfort and cooperation during the scan.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Hours of Work: Please be remindedthat as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operationsrun 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, itmay be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, aswell as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.

Wage: $36.84 - $51.77 per hour
