Job summary

Profound Medical is seeking a Systems Engineering Developer to assist with the design and verification of our medical devices. You will work within the development team on hardware, software, imaging sequence optimization, MRI compatibility, and device performance verifications.

Testing occurs offsite at MRI facilities in the Toronto area, USA, and EU; travel is required. The role supports clinical, service, QA and regulatory activities and documents in Profound’s QMS.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering or Science.
• 3+ years MRI experience with Philips, GE or Siemens magnets.
• Experience with MRI console operation and MR-sequence development is highly desired.
• Solid understanding of MRI physics.
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MATLAB.
• Working knowledge of Windows, IP networking, security basics.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a positive, high-performance team environment.
• Develop system requirements and specifications for the device.
• Create, update, and execute test procedures.
• Coordinate system‑level activities in design development and testing.
• Develop, test, and optimize MRI sequences for various MRI models.
• Contribute to hardware and software designs of the devices.
• Perform verification MRI testing and write verification reports.
• Document defects and verify fixes in the defect-tracking system.
• Investigate product complaints and perform root cause analysis.
• Develop MATLAB scripts to support verification activities.
• Create simulations to study treatment parameter changes for development and regulatory submissions.
• Ensure adherence to Profound’s QMS.
• Support risk management and usability engineering activities.
• Travel 20-50% to support business activities.
