Job summary

Wajax Limited in Winnipeg, Manitoba is seeking a skilled Motor Winder to wind, assemble and install coils, and test motors and related equipment to ensure proper performance.

You will read and interpret diagrams, blueprints and schematics, perform balancing and assembly of stators/armatures, and support apprentices under supervision. This hands-on role requires trade certification and 5+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Trade certification in motor wind or EMST preferred.
• Experience reading electrical diagrams and blueprints.
• Ability to instruct apprentices and perform material brazing.

Responsibilities

• Wind, assemble and install coils and components.

Electric Motor Systems Technician (EMST)

Job description

The Motor Winder will work with a small and dedicated team of mechanical professionals. Wind, assemble and install various types of coils. Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance.

The Role

• Wind, assemble and install various types of coils
• Test and adjust repaired products for proper functioning
• Read and interpret diagrams
• Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors
• Assemble stators or armatures for heavy-duty electric motors
• Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutatorsandother components
• Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear
• Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance

The Candidate

• Education: Trade certification,Electric Motor Systems Technician (EMST)Trade Certification would be an asset.
• Work Experience: 5+ years
• Knowledge:Weld or braze components; Read electrical schematics, blueprintsandother technical diagrams; Read and interpret blueprints/sketches/specifications; Instruct apprentices
