We are looking for a Senior Storage Administrator to work with one of our clients, an international financial institution based in Montreal.

CONTEXT AND ROLE OBJECTIVES:

As part of the Storage & Backup administration team, you will join a large-scale international environment and contribute to the administration, engineering, support, and continuous improvement of storage and backup infrastructures.

You will lead the onboarding and coordination of a Level 3 support team composed of 5 engineers, while ensuring reliable operations in a 24x7 environment. The role involves supporting security remediation initiatives, driving automation, contributing to DevOps practices, and collaborating closely with IT teams and business stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Storage & Backup Administration

• Administer and engineer storage solutions in a large-scale 24x7 environment.
• Support, design, and continuously improve storage and backup infrastructures and associated tools.
• Manage block storage, NAS, object storage, and backup technologies.
• Support high-availability environments and disaster recovery design, implementation, and testing.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex distributed application and infrastructure environments.
• Lead the onboarding and coordination with a Level 3 support team composed of 5 engineers.
• Support team routines and operational activities.
• Participate in overtime operations at least once per month.
• Participate in a Follow-the-Sun support model covering Europe and Asia.
• Deliver peer technology training sessions on on-prem cloud, CEPH, Cinder, and OpenStack.

Security & Standards

• Oversee the implementation and follow-up of security remediation actions.
• Contribute to environment hardening and audit remediation.
• Ensure adherence to procedures, technical design standards, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

ITIL & Stakeholder Management

• Manage activities under the ITIL framework, including Change, Incident, and Request Management.
• Collaborate closely with IT teams and business stakeholders.
• Design and deliver technical solutions aligned with business needs.
• Maintain strong communication with both technical and business stakeholders.

Automation & DevOps

• Drive automation initiatives to reduce repetitive tasks and improve team efficiency.
• Contribute to DevOps initiatives using Python, Flask, Git, Ansible, and related technologies.
• Contribute to technology watch initiatives and recommend continuous improvements.

PROFILE:

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Senior experience in storage and backup administration.
• Strong expertise in block storage / SAN technologies such as VMAX, UNITY, CISCO, PureStorage, OpenStack, and Cinder.
• Strong expertise in NAS technologies, especially NetApp.
• Strong expertise in object storage technologies such as S3 and Scality.
• Strong expertise in backup technologies such as NetBackup, Cohesity, and DataDomain.
• Proficiency with server operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Ansible and Salt.
• Good understanding of cloud technologies.
• Experience managing high-availability environments.
• Experience with disaster recovery design, implementation, and testing.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in complex distributed environments.
• Solid understanding of ITIL processes, including Change, Incident, and Request Management.
• Strong focus on security, including audit remediation and environment hardening.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Client-focused mindset with strong customer service orientation.
