Job summary

Monogram in Calgary is seeking a friendly barista to join our coffee and beverage program and help create an inviting space for guests. You will take orders, craft espresso and filter drinks, and serve pastries with a focus on hospitality.

You’ll work with a team to deliver exceptional guest care, uphold cafe procedures, and contribute to a safe, equitable space for all races, religions, cultures, and identities.

Responsibilities

  • Run the coffee bar, prepare espresso and filter drinks for dine-in and to-go.
  • Serve pastries and grab-and-go items to guests.
  • Work with the team to build relationships with the community and maintain standards.
  • Support cafe operations: inventories, restocking, cleaning and organization.
  • Be ready to respond to emergencies or shift coverage.

Job description

We are hiring for a barista position working with the coffee and beverage programs of Monogram. We're looking for someone passionate about serving others, loves coffee and drinks and how it can bring people together. As a barista, you will report directly to the Floor Manager and Managers.

In your role, you will be responsible for serving our community, taking orders, making espresso and filter based drinks, upholding a world-class standard of coffee service, serving pastries, cleaning and organizing the cafe, and completing other tasks important to the smooth functioning of our cafe. We are looking for people that are passionate about their community, have empathy to the people they interact with, and who love to work within a team. This role also requires a commitment to actively create a safe and equitable space for all races, religions, cultures, sexual orientations and gender identities. Some of your tasks:
  • Running the coffee bar and preparing and serving drinks for guests dining in, as well as to-go on the cafe side
  • Serving pastries, sandwiches alongside other grab and go food
  • Working in service alongside your team, building relationships with the community and one another
  • Operating under cafe procedures and protocols
  • Assisting in cafe operations tasks, such as inventories, restocking, cleaning and organization
  • Work well and understand the vision of the leadership group
  • Support, grow and help each person on the team
  • Be ready to respond to emergencies, shift coverages or other issues.
